Sofia Airport: terminals and access

Sofia’s Vasil Levski Airport is about ten kilometres from the city centre. Two terminals, a free bus between them, the metro at Terminal 2: the essentials for arriving or leaving by car.

Key points

  • Two terminals, T1 and T2, linked by a free bus 24 hours a day.
  • The metro (line M4) serves Terminal 2 only.
  • Kiss & Ride at Terminal 2: 10 minutes free.
  • Domestic flights to Varna and Burgas depart from Terminal 2.

Two terminals

The airport has two terminals, T1 and T2. Your flight’s terminal is shown in the flight information published by the airport, which is updated continuously. Domestic flights to Varna and Burgas depart from the domestic area of Terminal 2.

A free bus links the two terminals non-stop, 24 hours a day, every 20 to 40 minutes depending on the time of day.

By car

The airport is about 10 km from the city centre, via Brussels Boulevard and Tsarigradsko shose Boulevard. From the Trakia motorway, it is reached from the east; from the Hemus motorway, via Botevgradsko shose Boulevard and then Prodan Tarakchiev Street.

Official address: 1 Hristofor Kolumb Boulevard, 1540 Sofia. Since 2025, access in front of Terminal 2 has been controlled by barriers, with a ticket issued on entry.

Dropping off or waiting for someone

In front of Terminal 2, the Kiss & Ride area offers 10 minutes free, with at least 60 minutes between two free entries; from 11 to 30 minutes, it costs €5. Parking is prohibited in the area and in the streets around the terminal.

To wait longer, the airport recommends car park P5, a one-minute walk from Terminal 2.

Metro and buses

The “Letishte Sofia” metro station (line M4) adjoins Terminal 2: allow about twenty minutes to the centre, with a single journey at €0.80 paid contactless at the gates. Terminal 1 passengers first take the free bus. Bus 84 also links both terminals with the city centre.
