The Bulgarian e-vignette

To drive on Bulgaria’s motorways and most of its national roads, a car must be covered by an electronic vignette linked to its number plate. Prices and rules as at 8 October 2026.

Key points

  • Our cars have an annual vignette: you have nothing to buy.
  • An electronic vignette linked to the number plate: no sticker.
  • From €5.30 (one day) to €64.50 (one year) for a car, since 1 August 2026.
  • The weekend runs from Friday 12:00 to Sunday 23:59.
  • Without a vignette: a compensatory fee of €46.50.

Prices for a car

Prices set by a decree of the Council of Ministers, in force since 1 August 2026, for a vehicle of up to 3.5 t:

One day24 hours from the time chosen€5.30
WeekendFriday 12:00 to Sunday 23:59€6.60
Week7 calendar days€10.00
MonthOne month€19.90

The price is the same however you buy it, with no additional charges.

Roads covered

The vignette is required on motorways, first- and second-class national roads and some third-class roads. It is not required on sections inside built-up areas, between the entry and exit signs, or on the Sofia ring road.

Buying and checking

  • Online at bgtoll.bg or with the official BGTOLL app, up to 30 days before your chosen start date.
  • At the counters of the regional road directorates and at border crossings, at self-service kiosks and from authorised distributors.
  • The plate is entered in capital letters, without spaces or hyphens; the digit 0 and the letter O are not interchangeable. A typing error counts as having no vignette.

The vignette stays with the vehicle and cannot be transferred to another one. Before setting off, you can check in a few seconds on the official website that a plate is covered: simply enter the country of registration and the number.

With our cars

Every car in our fleet is covered by an annual vignette, valid across the whole charged network: you have nothing to buy before you set off.

Without a vignette

Without a valid vignette, the vehicle’s owner receives an electronic notice; within 14 days, they may pay a compensatory fee of €46.50, and must also buy a weekend vignette. Failing that, the Road Traffic Act provides for a fine.
